چکیده

In order to recover spectral reflectances or transmittances using a multispectral imaging based technique, it is necessary to know the spectral radiance of the illuminant used to light the samples in the acquisition process. In this study, we analyzed the influence of the spectral distribution of the illuminant on the reconstruction of spectral reflectances in the near infrared region of the spectrum (NIR). We considered a set of 30 textile samples with different spectral reflectance in this region. We tested the performance of a principal component analysis (PCA) based method and a non-linear estimation method (NLE), which allow us to obtain the spectral reflectance of samples in the NIR region from a small number of measurements performed with a CCD camera. Using numerical simulation, we analyzed the number and shape of the optimum filters that need to be used in the acquisition channels in order to obtain good spectral reconstructions under several lighting conditions. Finally, we studied the quality of the reconstructions with a set of commercially available filters which are similar to the optimum filters obtained in the simulations. The results obtained show that the reconstruction does not depend heavily on the illuminant used. This indicates that, with the same set of filters, we can obtain good reconstructions for different types of illuminant.

Spectral Reconstruction of Blacks and Whites by Using the Statistical Colorants

In this paper, the spectral dimensions of two sets of samples including 457 black and 84 white fabrics are compared. White fabrics are treated with variety of fluorescent whitening agents and the blacks are fabrics that dyed with different combinations of suitable dyes and pigments. In this way, the reflectance spectra of blacks as well as the total radiance factors of whites are compressed in ...

Natural image database and its use for scene illuminant estimation

This paper describes a database collecting natural color images, called the Natural Image Database, and shows how it is used for illuminant estimation problems. First, we present significant features of the database. This database is not only a collection of color images of natural scenes, but also includes scene illuminant spectra and camera calibration data. Because these data sets are availa...

Nondestructive Firmness Estimation of Tomato Fruit Using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy

Today, nondestructive methods are widely used to determine the quality of agricultural products. Meanwhile, visible and near-infrared (Vis/NIR) spectroscopy is regarded as one of the most widely used methods in the field of quality assessment of agricultural products. In this study, a system was developed to measure the Vis/NIR spectra of tomato fruit samples in the half-transmittance mode of m...

Effects of Varieties, Producing Areas, Ears, and Ear Positions of Single Maize Kernels on Near-Infrared Spectra for Identification and Traceability

The effects of varieties, producing areas, ears, and ear positions of maize on near-infrared (NIR) spectra were investigated to determine the factors causing the differences in NIR fingerprints of maize varieties. A total of 130 inbred lines were grown in two regions in China, and 12,350 kernel samples were analyzed through NIR spectroscopy. Spectral differences among varieties, producing areas...

Determination of Leaf Relative Water Content of Two Genotypes of Sesame Using Visible and Near- Infrared (VIS/NIR) Spectrometry to Detect Drought Stress

Relative water content (RWC) in plants is one of the most important biochemical parameters and its deficiency limits efficiency of photosynthesis and crop productivity. The scientific reports on using spectroscopy in detecting drought stress for sesame plants are very rare. In this study, the possibility of identifying water stress in two sensitive (Naz-Takshakhe) and resistant (Yekta) genotype...
